I know what it’s like to struggle to look in the mirror.
To battle with being seen, and physically going out with obvious imperfections.
I get it, it’s tough!
But you can’t let that stop you. You are so more than your skin! And way more than what you look like. As they say in Shallow Hal, “what’s the big deal? They’re just well-formed molecules?”
Do you let your skin dictate how you live your life? Does it stop you from being who you want to be, or experiencing what you want? Then this post is for you.
Be radically honest with yourself…
If you want to change you, there’s a degree of self-hate.
Of course, there’s a difference between wanting to grow and accepting who you are, what you look like at where you’re at. Growth, ambition, dreams, and looking after yourself is health. Obsession, desperation and destain for you and your skin is disease.
Don’t get me wrong, there were times where I had zero self-acceptance, and a lot of self-hate, though I didn’t admit it at the time…
Even still, l have moments of feeling sorry for myself, feeling ugly, unattractive etc. etc. which is why our ability to create perspective is key!
Perspective is EVERYTHING.
For instance, it could always be worse.
It could be and it was for me. In the end, I got SO MUCH WORSE! Against all odds, and months of radical decline, I started getting better. I made a shift by committing to myself and deciding to learn to love and accept myself again.
I realised it wasn’t going away in a blink of an eye, and if I was going to be happy again, it couldn’t be because of my skin, but because of me.
I’m so grateful I got that bad because it gave me an insight, empathy, and perspective I’d never embodied before.
Because loving the skin you’re in is the key to clearing your skin.
Often we look back at what we were and think if only I could appreciate what I had THEN!
But the truth is, you are beautiful RIGHT NOW. Don’t be blind to that in this moment too! As you age and change you will have to adapt to the way you look. There will always be a reason to find a flaw!
Don’t wait for hindsight to give you perfect vision.
