Chocolate Macca ‘Moussey’ Bowl

Oh hello there! And welcome to breakfast heaven. If I do say so myself..

Who said eating healthy wouldn’t make you happy? Yes, I’m all about optimal nutrition for the skin and gut, but that doesn’t mean we must miss out on the good stuff.

Delicious and nutritious is the aim of the game. And we’ve certainly achieved that here.

This smoothie bowl is more like a mousse, and can be served as dessert, however it is by no means sickly sweet, it’s sensational breakfast material.

This combination is ideal for boosting your mood – a great way to start the day. And for the ladies especially, this will bring your hormones into balance. There are so many ingredients working together in with one to allow for maximal absorption. AND, she’s packed full of fibre to clean out the colon and clear the mind. The colon contains so many neutrons it’s often referred to as our second brain. When we look after the gut, we not only clear the skin, we clear our mind and brighten our mood.

That’s why I know you’re gonna love this recipe. You’ll feel full, but light, energised and ready to take on the day as the best version of yourself.

Also, it’s good to know this is a perfect recipe for breakfast “on the go”. A preview to the kind of goodies that’ll be in my recipe book to be launched this week, “Breakfasts on the go – for a happy mind and a healthy glow”. All designed for the skin, your gut, and mind. With quick and easy recipes you can fit into your busy schedule so you can maintain a healthy lifestyle. It also contains all they reasons why these recipes work and what they’re good for.

And in the mean time you cam take care of yourself with this:

Serves: 1-2 Prep Time:

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 3 dates
  • 3 tbsp coconut yogurt
  • 1 small Apple (or 1/2 a large)
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao
  • 1/2 tsp cacao nibs
  • 1/2 tsp macca
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/2 tsp chia
  • 1 tsp psyllium
  • 1/4 avo
  • 1/3 cup of coconut water (or water)
  • 1/3 cup (non-dairy) milk (I used organic soy)
  • 1 tsp ground flax (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender on high.
  2. Scrape down the bowl and blend on high again until smooth.
  3. Add desired toppings.

Here I’ve added my “chocolate dirt’, organic frozen raspberries and blueberries, pumpkin seeds and brazil nuts – MY FAVOURITE! Oh, and with a sprinkling of desiccated coconut.

To substitute the chocolate dirt (recipe to come), I often use cocoa nibs. Another delicious addition I tried recently was with red grapes and pecans, woah! But you can substitute to suit yourself. 🙂

Notes

For me, this is one serve, but for most people this can be halved quite comfortably to serve two.

If you try this recipe, please let me know what you think and what toppings you loved!

Here’s to loving the skin you’re in.

xx Jess
